Come gather 'round people
Wherever you roam
And admit that the waters
Around you have grown
And accept it that soon
You'll be drenched to the bone
If your time to you
Is worth savin'
Then you better start swimmin'
Or you'll sink like a stone
For the times they are a-changin'.

- Bob Dylan

for when i feel like bonquiqui....which is often

‎I don’t deserve it, but grace is attached to my shadow.
It follows me wherever I go reminding me that I’m loved when I don’t love myself.
It corrects me when I’m out of line yet then pulls me in to give me a loving embrace.
It’s sometimes hard for me to understand because it’s so unlike me.

oh this book

Sometimes I have the strangest feeling about you. Especially when you are near me as you are now. It feels as though I had a string tied here under my left rib where my heart is, tightly knotted to you in a similar fashion. And when you go, with all that distance between us, I am afraid that this cord will be snapped, and I shall bleed inwardly.
— Jane Eyre

overwhelmed with blessing

“And, for this is the end of all the stories… [but] for them, it was only the beginning of the real story. All their life in this world and all their adventures… had only been the cover, and the title page: now at last they were beginning Chapter One of the Great Story which no one on Earth has read: which goes on forever: in which every chapter is better than the one before.”

— C.S. Lewis, The Chronicles of Narnia

i’m so blessed to have a God that put such a strong support system around me.

last weekend on our visit to aggieland, Charlie and I scored
a nifty dinning table.
{the fact that we had a $10 off coupon only sweetened the deal}
we hauled that bad boy in and gave it a quick "once over"
then started assembling...i.e. charlie started assembling
this was our first little dinning table we bought second hand when
we got married.
...
and now
...
as you can see it has a removable leaf in the middle.
now we'll start working on finding some chairs...
there were several fun fabric chairs but we didn't want to rush into
buying whatever struck our fancies right away.
fun stuff!

sunday morning we headed to campus and students were already
camped out to get tickets for next weekend's game against Oklahoma
we all went to our main buildings where most of our classes were held.
Francis is where I spent most of my time as an aggie
but as I walked up to the door
i noticed a sign
"we are moving"
sad day!
it was like going home and finding your house completely empty.
 well, not quite that tramatizing but still unexpected.
this was the room where i had my first class as an RPTS student
i'm just glad that i got to walk the halls and say goodbye.

we are the aggies, the aggies are we

"big gulps, huh?
yep, well see ya later."
gotta love wal-mart in aggieland
the aggies put the spank on Idaho at
37 to 7 saturday night
the lloyds and woodleys whooped it up for the ags like old times
and encountered the youngest aggie who bleeds maroon.
he fell asleep with his head resting on a water bottle.
the band rocked as always
kati and i showed all the college girls how to get the perfect
jump shot on the first take
we finished off the night with dinner at our favorite authentic italian restaurant
Olive Garden :)

to aggieland and back again

there is a thrift market in Hempstead on the way the College Station.
sellers rent a section of property every third weekend of the month.
picture a garage sale on the side of the freeway.
there were several "other people's trash is your treasure" items available
{a picture is worth a thousands words}

{nothing says classy like a cross-stitch pick-up line}
                         {Why is this rabbit at the north pole?}         {just not too sure}
... but we didn't get completely skunked ...
we found this cool wooden box for just $5
(brass key included)
and I got this sweet bird cage with three pieces of garland for...
you guessed it...$5!
i was pretty stoked to say the least!

chef charlie

friday night charlie decided to try his hand at making my
favorite soup from scratch...
spicy, chicken tortilla!
one of the ingredients he forgot to get at HEB was
chicken broth.
After digging around the kitchen we found several
boxes of beef broth but couldn't find any chicken broth.
{"why are we so beefy?" ~charles}
finally we found three cans of chicken broth.
1 was expired and 2 were good to go!
after an hour and a half of hard labor
we enjoyed big 'ol heaping bowl of steamy
chicken tortilla soup.
charlie's opinion of the whole experience was that
paying the premium at a restaurant is well worth it.
The soup was very delicious but the prep time can take a while.
Being the lucky wife that I am, I was able to taste test all along the way
and then took 'dish-washing' duty after the meal.
As the rule goes,

Battle in the Heavens - Nicholas Roerich, 1912

sssooooiiieeeee

i am pretty good at zoning out and do not over hear much
but i am so glad that i got to witness this little conversation.
oink
"my husband is going through a really tough time.
he let our pig got out of the pin the other day,
and it fell into the pool and drowned.
he feels awful"
{sad but i have to admit hilarious}
i over heard this conversation and got such a kick out of it
i came home relayed the story to charlie and asked...
"don't pigs know how to swim?"
to which he replied
"the issue isn't knowing how to swim,
the issue is being able to get out"

these look delicious

had another tough day...

but instead of wallowing in self-pity...
{as i can be so fond of doing}
i talked with my mom & we laughed together.
oh her laugh.
how her laugh makes everyday and everything better.

Do not think that love in order to be genuine has to be extraordinary. What we need is to love without getting tired. Be faithful in small things because it is in them that your strength lies.
