maybe i don't want to go camping
well just not in Russia at least...
Michio Hoshino A photographer known for his pictures of bears and other wildlife, was mauled to death by a brown bear on the Kamchatka Peninsula in eastern Russia. This was the last photo he took.(via youwillbequeen)
we had a very quick weekend
quick but productive
El Padre de Marco or Papa Luigi
(as Charlie like to call his father)
came in town to lend a helping hand on the downstairs bathroom.
some other projects developed over the course of the weekend
(please excuse the complete lack of make-up here and the nappiness of my mane)
several trips to Home Depot later
we had a new light for the kitchen and a fresh coat of paint
on the ceiling
a few hours and a little paint war later...
...we've got fun track lighting in our kitchen!
Thanks Papa Mark for a wonderful anniversary gift!

A Dress to Honor a Dead Soldier, and Dear Friend
“Kev was like my brother – we would have done anything for each other.(via canyoureadthis)
We said that whoever died first, the other one had to wear a pink dress with green spots to the funeral – and we shook on it. It was mainly his idea and the more I think about it, I’m sure Kevin knew something was going to happen.
I looked for the exact dress but couldn’t find one anywhere.
I eventually picked up the green one in Primark and bought the pink pop socks to make it look even sillier. It’s what Kev would have wanted.
Kev told his whole family about the pact, so I couldn’t back out. I had a word with him at the graveside and asked if he liked the color – I’m sure I could hear laughter coming out of the ground.
Kev was a true hero and someone I’m proud to call my best mate.”

loving my new read, 5th Avenue at 5 a.m.!
did you know audrey seriously disliked pastries?
she begged the direction to let her eat an ice cream cone
in the first scene rather than a doughnut

our 4 year anniversary has been beautiful
all day long
i feel so blessed and thankful
i even got to get dressed up
contacts in and all...if i put my contacts in then you
know i'm putting forth some effort!
i got the delicious salmon for dinner
and the apple strudel was simply perfection
and now for my favorite part of the whole day...
my gift to charlie
before our desserts came out we sat and laughed till we cried
looking at these goofy pics
charlie thinks it will be a hit at his office
and i couldn't pass up adding a few little personal embellishments
here and there
what a lucky hubby i have!
actually we are both pretty lucky
mazel tov to many more quadruple years together
flurs!
i looked up from my desk and saw someone walking in with a
huge boquet of flowers...
thinking it was a guest, i asked,
"may i help you sir?"
to my surprise, charlie's face peeked out
from behind the arrangment.
...sigh...
these special days are so fun and romantic.
I got compliments and different comments on the flowers all day long.
On comment in particular stuck out to me.
The lady said,
"i hope every day is this happy for you."
it's funny how most days in married life are just run-of-the-mill,
filled with hello/good-bye kisses, late night dinners and the ocassional movie.
Things aren't perfect all of the time.
Every day isn't a completely happy one.
There have been lots of apologies and tears over the past 4 years.
What is our marriage?
It’s playing mancala in airports.
It’s playing mancala in airports.
Holding hands in church on Sundays.
It’s laughing at parts of a movie nobody else thinks are funny.
It’s burnt dinner (which he would never complain about)

It’s burnt dinner (which he would never complain about)
and
clean laundry (which most likely, he did).
It’s telling the truth, even when it hurts.
It’s Charlie and Kristin, and it’s good.

"You know what’s wrong with you, Miss Whoever-you-are? You’re chicken, you’ve got no guts. You’re afraid to stick out your chin and say, ‘Okay, life’s a fact, people do fall in love, people do belong to each other, because that’s the only chance anybody’s got for real happiness.’ You call yourself a free spirit, a ‘wild thing,’ and you’re terrified somebody’s gonna stick you in a cage. Well baby, you’re already in that cage. You built it yourself. And it’s not bounded in the west by Tulip, Texas, or in the east by Somali-land. It’s wherever you go. Because no matter where you run, you just end up running into yourself.”
— Paul Varjak, Breakfast at Tiffany’s"
ha!
"What do coffee and doughnuts have to do with God? Who ever said the church needs a continental breakfast, I doubt that God is interested in our church activities. If God has made the church bake sale a priority, then I’d say we’re all in a lot of trouble…"
Simon Birch
might just need to give this a read
"When she laughed you could hear her at sea, or so the sailors claimed."
